Who’s afraid of Cuba? Almost nobody anymore. I cant even imagine Cuba as a threat but I dont have all the facts. I do know that it is incredibly beautiful or it was when I started school there. I remember the beaches and how you could go swimming every day of the year. It was amazing for a kid. I remember getting sick with my sister at our outdoor theater that was free, watching a movie. It was also an amazing example of our government taking care of a soldier and his family. I had a problem that my grandmother found while bathing me. It was a murmur in my neck. Well, luckily for me they figured out that was an aneurism getting ready to burst. The Navy flew me to Bethesda Medical Hospital and a special neurosurgeon was contracted by the Navy to do a reparative surgery on my carotid artery. After three trips back and forth from Cuba to Maryland over three years, I was given a Clean bill of health but not to play contact sports. Sometimes your government can be a lifesaver and not just a burden. I thank the Navy and my dad for what he did for this country in WWII. His ship lost 924 men in a bombing raid by the Japanese but was never sunk.
