Why Edna wants a new arena…. We have been hearing a lot about all the artists that don’t come and perform at the Civic Center because it is too small, but which artists are we really talking about. In light of SPLOST VI and the immediate need for a brand new Coliseum we asked around at City Hall for a list of concert tours and performing artists that declined to come to Savannah because they needed more space for their special acts. We asked Queen Edna first because she is adamant about this new crown jewel that will ONLY set the taxpayers back $120 million. Alas, she could not name one spectacular artist or act that we all missed out on. We asked our well-informed Clowncil the same question because after all, they are ALWAYS in the know about these ribbon cutting and photo shoot occasions. Alas, even Mary, Mary, always-happy Mary could not tell us. As a last resort, we asked Marty Johnston, City Special Projects Director, whether she could provide us with a list of celebrities that turned away from our beautiful City and Civic Center. After waiting patiently for two weeks and thinking that we would either not get an answer or a long list of missed names of fame, we finally got the answer. Only one performing artist declined to perform in Savannah and her name is CHER. WOW! What a missed opportunity and what a motivational reason to go and build a new and shiny arena. Who in the world would NOT want to see CHER in her underwear and who in their right mind would NOT please her with a new Coliseum? Now we completely understand why Queen Edna made her Coliseum a top priority. Who would dare to deprive the poor Citizens of Savannah of such an educational and exemplary Victoria Secret dance and light show? SERIOUSLY! CHER in underwear and lets put all of our pennies together so she will come. If you are a member of AARP, you will get a special discount and a front row seat too together with Kleenex and napkins to stop from drooling. THAT is the kind of entertainment Clowncil wants! A PENNY for CHER!!!! Spread the word, spread the GOOD word!
