Why I am running for Mount Vernon City Council Number 1 reason is that I know I can make a difference in my community. I understand what the legislative branch is charged to do. Basically pass laws to make the city better for our citizens while encouraging businesses to invest in our city. Number 2 Work with the School Board. Not to have a press conference every couple of months and have nothing to show for it. But to have a long; substantive relationship that helps both entities be better; Number 3 secure funding through other government sources as well as philanthropic entities for the benefit of our library; future and current historic sites and for our schools; taxpayers cannot pay anymore to support failing schools and then still send their children to private schools Number 4 identify resources for our crumbling infrastructure both streets and garages with special attention to our parks and playgrounds. Finally; upgrades to our fire stations and the police headquarters. I certainly welcome any additional input from you citizens as we move forward in the process. Oh and getting a hotel, movie theatre and skate park would definitely enhance our viability to tourists and business interests. Now time for some coffee. Good Morning!
