Why I loved The Robots of Sherwood Seriously? When was the - TopicsExpress

Why I loved The Robots of Sherwood Seriously? When was the last time you saw the Doctor so trapped in such a simple situation? It wasn’t the world blowing up, or daleks, or whatever plot nonsense that usually comes out of Moffat’s brain… he was simply chained up in a cell. That’s it. No crazy tech, or amazing trick that got him locked up either. His Sonic Screwdriver was taken from him and he was simply chained up to a rock with a madman giggling beside him. “Reverse the polarities” on that one, old man! Brilliant. I have such a man crush on this Doctor. He’s the completely fallible, cranky scientist we haven’t seen since Hartnell. Not a God. Just a man. Doesnt even know if hes a good one. Man, I really love this Doctor. I dont want a hero who saves the world all the time, I want an old man who can barely find his own car-keys. I can relate to that better. Plus it makes it even more extraordinary when he *does* save the world. When was the Doctor trapped in such a simple environment? I certainly don’t have any memory in NuWho and am very glad for this direction. Oh! And the art design! The robot knights and ship interior were just beautiful! And that new camera they’re using is just bringing everything up peachy too. And the genre flipping from last episode? Also brilliant! I can’t remember when Who broke its neck switching genres so hard between stories before! People are complaining about how cheesy it was, but I wonder if theyre slightly missing that intention of point. Beautiful genre mimicry crying out that Who can be anything! And now I wish Robin Hood was our new companion. And Clara! She can act all of a sudden! Ive seen a lot of complaint about these new episodes being plot thin. But I say good to this! Thank God we finally have space to breath without drowning in plot! Without sailing in a plot boat, down a river of plot, whilst a plot storm rained plot around us like a drunk Plot Giant in +5 Enchanted Plotmail… and instead make a decent character driven sci-fi and fantasy show for once! Character driven, man. Finally. You can do that when you have less plot. Give me more stuff like the stuff locked up in that cell, please. Let the actors do all the work, your FX budget will thank you. I have loved every single episode this season, three for three. Last season I think I loved one. The season before that, maybe two. It was just a matter of waiting enough regenerations… but I think I finally have a Doctor to call my own. ... Man if the next episode sucks I’m really going to look very silly right now.
