Why I still live in the DC metropolitan area - walked to the Metro - TopicsExpress

Why I still live in the DC metropolitan area - walked to the Metro this morning, got off at Farragut West and walked up to The Brookings Institution where I got to hear Alice Rivlin - founding Director of the Congressional Budget Office and former director of OMB; the former Comptroller at DOD, and two other experts talk about sequestration, the 2016 budget etc. The I visited the Museum of Jewish Military History,Inc. which Ive passed time and time again without going in. Nice little museum though Ill be reporting a couple of errors to them. Then a stroll along Massachusetts Avenue and a visit to the National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution to see the Lee and Grant exhibit and Mr Lincolns Washington. But only after a stop in at Fado Irish Pub & Restaurant DC for a Guinness and nice small lunch of fish and chips from the appetizer menu! Popped into the International Spy Museum book shop across the street. Finally, the home stretch heading to the National Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian Institution on the Mall to see the Spirit of St Louis at ground level as she gets a thorough cleaning - bonus was a great chat about some of the Tuskegee Airmen with an author George Norfleet who was there signing and selling copies of his book about them A Pilots Journey - great chatting with him. Visited the Flying to Hawaii exhibit as well to see the old footage of the great Clippers that used to fly there - and took lots of pictures of the 1:28 scale model of The Hindenburg airship from the movie. Finally walked to the Smithsonian Metro station transferred to the ARTS bus in Arlington and home. Almost 6 miles of walking and lots of great museum going!!
