Why I think we should invest no matter how small we start and why we need to involve our spouses. When I was in Primary school, theres a family that had moved to Bungoma town and the kids joined our school from some posh school in Nai. I remember how smart those kids were, shoes and socks speaking better English. Their dad was a rich man employed in Nairobi and he gave them a good life, then he died leaving behind a family and his wife who had a much less paying job and no back up plan and so they relocated back home. I believe he had not bought his kids education policies, for some reason and then his family had control over his pension or so I learnt later that left the widow even poorer. The kids were distressed given the change of life and that affected their performance later in life, their mum also passed on at some point. It was a sad turn of events. I know many guys who are in well paying jobs but with zero fall back plan if anything went wrong God Forbid. Death is a reality, and as much as we believe tomorrow will cater for itself, this mentality should change if we have children. Just wanted to share. It is not how much we make that determines our growth, it is how we spent the little or the5 much we get.
