Why Is Rochester City Hall Targeting The Inner City With Red Light - TopicsExpress

Why Is Rochester City Hall Targeting The Inner City With Red Light Cameras? At least 24 of the current 32 City red light cameras are in neighborhoods and intersections in the inner city. No suburban town has a single red light camera. The State Of New York and the County Of Monroe also do not operate a single red light camera on any roads in their jurisdiction. Only the City Of Rochester is collecting approximately $3.5 million dollars a year in fines, much of it from the people who can least afford this burden put only on City drivers. Many cities around the country are now pulling the plug on these programs based on public outcry over the legal and technical flaws. Do you think the Inner City is being especially targeted for some reason? City Council will vote on continuing and expanding the red light cameras this Wednesday, November 12th, 2014 in the evening.
