Why Matshwenyego Fischer was forced to resign- The 2 millitary incumbents (Fischer & Khama) relationship goes back to 1978 from the time the Botswana Defence Force was established. When Fischer assumed position, the millitary officers were basically surviving on low wages of which he always advocated for better living standards of officers. Even in the 80s as a junior officer he often highlighted better ideas on millitary affairs to his superiors. When he became commander, because of his supported ideologies by many officers, Fischer became more popular than Khama. He often questioned tenders given to the Khamas. Fischers relationship with officers in the army was infact out-growing that of his excellency. Due to Khamas fear of Fischers popularity in the force which he, Khama himself and his entourage thought would have serious repurcurssions of further dividing the army.......he forced Fischer to resign. Fischers influence in the army of which many observers viewed as radical had serious effect which could have even led to a possible coup detat. Khama had to act fast of which he did. Morning ditsala
