“Why Mongolia?” This Sunday morning as you begin to worship, - TopicsExpress

“Why Mongolia?” This Sunday morning as you begin to worship, I will be arriving in the capital city of Mongolia. It is 13 hours ahead of Racine, so at 10:00am here, it will be 11:00pm there. If all goes according to plan I will leave the Petro/Iron Skillet by bus around 8:30am Saturday. Then with 180,000 pounds of thrust from 2 Pratt and Whitney engines, I will fly for 13 hours 40 minutes from O’hare to Beijing China, arriving at 2:15am Racine time and 3:15pm Beijing time. Following a 6 hour layover we leave Beijing for the 2 hour 30 minute flight to Ulan Baatar, Mongolia where we will arrive at 10:40am Racine time and 11:40pm local. Then we will proceed with a two hour drive to our final destination. About 7500 miles. And a great question comes to mind. Why? The answer is simple. Mongolia has a population of just under 3 million.22 years ago it is reported that there were exactly FOUR professing Christians. It is estimated that today there are only around 50,000 followers of Jesus in the entire country. That is fantastic growth and yet still only 1.6% of the population. There is so much more potential. I will be working to teach local pastors who have no training. Everything I teach will be multiplied across all of their congregations. I have no idea of how many people will be affected by God’s Word through this trip. That is the answer to ‘why’ 7500 miles are worth the time, effort and money. Pray for me. Every day. Jesus said, Go therefore and make disciples of all nations… teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always” Matthew 28:19–20
