Why Politics is not much different than a beauty pageant A - TopicsExpress

Why Politics is not much different than a beauty pageant A study by Wyer and Budesheim (1987) found that people with an attractive political candidate have the idea that the candidate’s views correspond more with their own opinion then an exact match of views represented by an unattractive candidate. Another independent research by Vonk (2001) was conducted through house-to-house surveys and interviewing people on the streets. People were asked to choose between two candidates. The first candidate is good looking and of Party A (Republic), the second candidate is bad looking and of Party B (Democrat). Most respondents chose for the good looking one. Very similar results showed when they conducted this research on a new group, and Party B was better looking than Party A. This research evidently shows that people put more weight on the way someone looks and carries themselves, than moral or political views. youtu.be/dly6p4Fu5TE?t=36s
