Why Shia smack there faces, pull their hair and cut their backs on Ashura? As has been told before the Shia go to extreme lengths to make us believe it was Ahlus Sunnah whom killed Sayyidina Hussain RA at Karbala and that they are mourning his sad Martyrdom at the hands of the army of Yazid bin Muawiyyah. They further claim that they hit themselves to remind themselves of the pain of Sayyidina Hussain RA at Karbala....and ofcoz....we call them liars and deceivers! Do you know the real reason for all there melodramatics? The Shia naturally feel the heat when we remind them that it was the Shia of Kufa who betrayed Sayyidina Hussain RA, and that it was this betrayal that led him to his death. LETTERS TO SAYYIDINA HUSSAIN RA The shia of Kufa whom were unhappy with Yazid assuming power, wrote thousands of letters to Sayyidina Hussain RA pleading with him to lead them in rebellion against Yazid. Sayyidina Hussain RA after giving much though to it decided to answer their call and set out for Kufa. This was emphasized by the leaders of Kufa when they wrote: “In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate; to al-Husayn b. ‘Ali, from his Shia, the faithful Muslims: Further make haste, for the people are awaiting you, as they have no Imam other than you! So haste, and again haste! Peace.” This last letter was signed by a number of people and was sent with a delegation consisting of Hani b. Hani as-Sabi’i and Sa’id b. ‘Abd Allah al-Hanafi, the two most trusted Shia of Kufa. Upon reaching the place Karbala, Sayyidina Hussain RA realised the treachery and hypocrisy of the Shia of Kufa, whom deserted him! but it was already to late and he was left alone with a handful of supporters, roughly 70 odd in number. The bottom line is that it was the Shia who pledged support to Sayyidina Hussain RA, which caused him to leave MAKKAH for Kufa. Then at the last minute, the Shia of Kufa betrayed Sayyidina Hussain RA and allowed Yazids men (who were much fewer in number than the Kuffans) to attack and defeat Sayyidina Hussain’s contingent. So the real reason they beat themselves up on Ashura every year is not due to the sad death of Sayyidina Hussain RA, BUT BECAUSE THEY FEEL GUILTY OF THEIR BETRAYAL OF SAYYIDINA HUSSAIN RA!!!!
