Tracing back from history, the main Ogoja people have always been neglected in terms of leadership positions both locally and nationally, local governments like Yala, Bekwarra, Obanliku, Obudu, in Northern Cross River State have benefitted many political prominent leadership positions: Kanu Agabi (former Attorney General of the Federation) Bekwarra LGA Joseph Wayas (Former Senate President of the Federal Republic) Obudu LGA Senator Musa Adede(Ex-Senator Representing Cross River State North)Obudu LGA Senator Ben Ayade (Present Senator Representing Cross River State North) Obudu LGA Frank Adah (Former Speaker of Cross River State House of Asembly) Obudu LGA Larry Odey (Speaker Cross River State House of Assembly) Yala LGA John Odey (Minister of Environment/Information and Communication) Yala LGA Sen. Greg Ngaji (former Senator Representing Cross River State North) Yala LGA Dr. Mathias Offoboche (Former Deputy Governor of Cross River State) Yala LGA Dr. Walter Eneji (Former Deputy Governor of Cross River State) Bekwarra LGA and lots more Why is Ogoja nowhere to be found. The only prominent son of the true Ogoja Local Government Area that can represent the state now is Chief Peter Abang Ojie, of which we believe he understands the state at this juncture considering his experience in handling public offices well.
