Why Wi-fi facilities, Good Roads only during VVIP visit? [Preparations on for Modi’s 2-day visit] > Hectic preparations are underway in the state for the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi’s two-day maiden visit to Nagaland. Prime Minister would arrive Nagaland on November 30 and will grace the Hornbill Festival December 1 as chief guest. In connection with Modi’s visit, a coordination meeting of the top state government officials and the central departments in the state was convened at the office chamber of the principal secretary & home commissioner Nagaland Friday, stated a DIPR report. Chairing the meeting, the state home commissioner Pankaj Kumar sought cooperation from responsible departments and organizations so to provide the best accommodation and a comfortable stay of the Prime Minister and his entourage. Informing that the home department would be engaging mainly with the Prime Minister’s entourage and the state’s guests, the home commissioner urged all responsible departments to use their own innovation and resources in taking care of what they were given in-charge of during the time of the festival. The meeting also discussed that the BSNL should get ready with the hotlines in Kohima and STD, wi-fi facilities installed in important locations such as Kisama, Raj Bhavan, Helipad, Commissioner’s Guest House etc. and the Prime Minister should be provided with the ISD facility also. It was instructed BSNL and information technology department to tie-up for the required facilities to be provided to various places during that period. The meeting was informed by the Assam Rifles that the Kohima helipad would be made ready for the safe landing of Helicopters with tight security at the helipad and in and around Kohima. Assam Rifles suggested that other helipads in and around Kohima should be kept ready in case more choppers land. Border roads organisations informed the meeting that the ongoing repair and making of roads would be completed by November 29, 2014. Press and Media agencies including AIR and Doordarshan were instructed that they should all work in coordination with IPR department for dissemination of news and live telecast during the function. Doordarshan has submitted its prepared plan for coverage of the function. Press and Media agencies were directed to submit list of their staffs to IPR to receive identity cards. The meeting was informed that the prime minister of Myanmar would arrive December 3 to take part in the Hornbill Festival.
