Why am I so grumpy around people? Heres a really good example. So Im in a Best Buy and Im looking at big-screen TVs. It just so happens that some of the TVs are showing one of my favorite all-time movies duck soup from the Marx brothers. So Im watching the movie and laughing and it comes to the joke where Margaret Dumont tells Chico but I saw you with my own eyesand Chico replies well, who are you going to believe, me or your own eyes? Some black guy standing next to me says – he stole that joke from Richard Pryor. I couldnt believe it. I looked at him and I said dude, this movie was made in 1933 and Richard Pryor was born in 1940. How do you figure they stole the joke from Richard Pryor? The fact is, Richard Pryor stole the joke from them. The guy actually wants to argue that Im wrong. Unbelievable! And people dont understand why I am so intolerant of others. I just laughed at the guy and waved him off. Then one of the workers added that Richard Pryor stole a whole lot of material from the Marx brothers and many comedians have stole from the Marx brothers. The guy wants to argue that the Marx brothers stole material from Richard Pryor! Unbelievable! (I wont go into his tirade regarding how all white comedians steal their material from black comedians, but his adherence to his point, as ridiculous as it was, also had a ridiculous basis, namely bigotry). We both just laughed. I have no tolerance at all for this type of blatant ignorance any more, no matter how trivial it may seem. There is just too much of it and it needs to stop...
