Why arent admission committees in Universities mining social data to see through all the lies that people spew in their SOPs? I am not talking about misrepresentations, but made up goals and passion and life-long dreams. Any sophisticated software can easily outline a fairly accurate behavioral, sentiment and preference profile. And no it wont be a violation of privacy because more often than not we voluntarily give up this data when we like the University FB pages etc. I know HR departments in companies already do this, but this is more significant for college admissions because they claim to care more about the motivation element than the hard facts like GPA/Work ex, unlike companies.
