Why do I think the Republican Party is the wrong answer for our - TopicsExpress

Why do I think the Republican Party is the wrong answer for our nation? One reason, one philosophy. Republicans think our taxes should go toward economic incentives which funnel the money through Corporations (using tax breaks, subsidies, stimulus contracting & privatization) and then allow it to trickle down to the people. Far less of this stimulus money reaches the American public than ever before. It is a failed philosophy. Period. Democrats want to stimulate the economy through the people, through jobs and student debt relief, educational funding, etc... This is a better plan. People have money, they spend money, then businesses make more money, hire more people and cycle of economic stimulus actually is built. Republicans have no interest in helping anyone who isnt already wealthy and the fate of our nation is just within their grasp. Act now, this week! If you have early voting in your state, then GO VOTE! Take people with you. Get voters to the polls. So far the results in the early voting do not look good for the nation. As usual Conservatives got their rears in gear and got to the polls, and we did not. As of right now, they hold the edge in the battle for the Senate. I find the thought of a GOP Congress terrifying for the future of my family. As a working American, my taxes will increase, and my student loans will crush me when they raise the interest to 10%. As the wife of a former veteran who works in civil service, my husbands veterans care will suffer, his job is at risk as the GOP vilifies civil service in their constant drive to privatize every single industry and funnel our taxes to the wealthy who control the contracting corporations in America. As an instructor my job is at risk as they also want to privatize education funding, end grants and take all that money and GIVE it to banks to LEND it to students. Fewer students will be able to go to college and colleges will lay off workers. As a woman I will have no protection in the law for equal rights in the work place regarding pay and benefits. The economy will suffer as more people are laid off. People I know will suffer discrimination, in rights, marriage, and just because they happen to believe in a different religion. As an academic, I will see scientific funding shrink, and advances in our nation slow even more than they have now.
