Why do I volunteer 6 months of my time, creativity, and sweat to Sidewalk Moving Picture Festival for the last 3 years (5 total, but 2 in a lesser role)? The easy answer is it feeds my soul in a positive healthy way more than anything else I have volunteered for. Working alongside Chloe Cook Collins and Josh Vasa creating huge parties, special events around films, and programming for Sidewalk Central area for the weekend is very rewarding. I am comfortable and grateful to have a place to share ideas and get feedback in a healthy environment and to work with people who do this for the love of film, filmmakers and for the love of our city of Birmingham and not for the ego feed that I have witnessed in my lifetime with other events. Filmmakers come from all over the U.S. every year and we love that we get to show them our Birmingham. Its great publicity for the city and they walk away impressed I assure you. It takes 550 volunteers to make this 3-day festival happen and I am proud to one of the many. I have made great friends through Sidewalk over the years and thats icing on the cake.This year is bigger and better than ever. Happy Sweet 16 Sidewalk! #sidewalksweet16
