Why do Metabolism Testing? Do you feel you eat right and exercise - TopicsExpress

Why do Metabolism Testing? Do you feel you eat right and exercise and cannot lose weight? Well you may be doing it all wrong. There is a lot more to the equation than calories in/calories out. On November 1st, Laurie will be back at Class Action Fitness, Inc. for the metabolism testing. The test is used to measure your cardiovascular health and your RMR (resting metabolic rate). The first part of the test if you want to know your RMR is to sit back and relax (as much as you can with a mask over your face) while a computer analyzes your breath and heart rate to determine your RMR, the minimum number of calories your body needs to survive. After the results a trainer can determine the amount of calories you need to consume each day to get you to your goal. The second part of this test involves walking or running on a treadmill as a computer monitors your carbon dioxide output. The results reveal: 1. How efficiently your body burns fat for energy 2. Your aerobic threshold, or the maximum level at which youre still working in your aerobic zone, not anaerobic zone. Aerobic threshold is an intensity you could run at for hours on end. 3. Your VO2 max, the maximum amount of oxygen you can utilize during intense or maximal exercise. VO2 max is generally considered the best indicator of an athletes cardiovascular fitness and aerobic endurance. The results from these tests combined with a comprehensive blood profile can give you a very accurate picture of your strengths and weaknesses and what you can do to get healthy and, yes, lose weight. Each test performed has its own benefits. If you have been trying to lose weight and have been dieting the RMR would be beneficial, the results will detail the amount of calories your body burns at rest and during the day without exercise. If you wear a heart rate monitor and you have not had an exercise metabolism test done you may be working out in the wrong heart rate training zones. The exercise test will detail the number of calories and percentage of body fat you burn at different heart rate intervals. At the end there’s not really any ‘good’ or ‘bad, these test are used to help find out where you are so we know how to help you train to get to your own personal goals.
