Why do people find straw-man arguments so convincing? Or more specifically what about straw man arguments make them feel so superior? Eg. In The Evolution vs. Creationism argument the strawman is constructed around a very specific 6000 year biblical literalist creation model. Attacks upon this model are taken as attacks upon the entirety of creationism and support of random Evolution. People are not only convinced by this poor excuse for logical debate but emotionally invest in it enough to feel superior.
