Why do people like Interstellar so much? Do people like it because, like the Hobbit and Harry Potter movies, it so divorced by means of many plot devices (such as a wormhole and space aliens) from the dreary present-day reality in which wizards and magic wands are non-existent and humans can be launched into low Earth orbit only through means of great expense and effort and interstellar flight is impossible without an unlikely technological breakthrough?
