Why do people like to talk on the phone so much? If you have a job that is demanding on you mentally and physically the last thing you want to do is talk on the phone when you get home. Most of us are on stage all day when we are at work, performing for our clients, mangers, and the public. So what in the world would make people think that it’s okay to hold your ears hostage on the phone with idle conversation when you get home? Or, use your ears for a slop bucket for gossip? Or, call you in the middle of the day and say, “How are you? What are you doing?” I AM ON STAGE!!!! When I final get home for hours I don’t say a word, I am completely silent. I have notice this behavior in my children also. I once had a lady to stay with me while she was in transition and thought that I and my children were upset with her, because we spoke then they went to their rooms, and I to my office to answer emails. But once I started cooking dinner we all begin to talk about our day, because we had a chance to mentally debrief ourselves from our day. I truly believe if people make their calls few and in between people may take the time to talk to you instead of just texting you to get to the reason for your call.
