Why do people take the time to like a page and then criticize the - TopicsExpress

Why do people take the time to like a page and then criticize the manner in which posts are written? This page was created a few years ago by Rubys rescuer to tell her story, to ask for funds to cover her care and to find her a foster home. Once she came to live in our home as a foster, I was then added as a second admin. In an attempt to draw attention to her, as I often do with my fosters, I started making posts from Rubys perspective. After living in our home for over a year, my husband and I decided that Ruby belonged with us, so we adopted her. After the announcement was made that Ruby had found her forever home with us, several fans from her page asked would we be continuing to keep the page going because her posts were encouraging and funny and brightened their day. So that is what I have done. I have continued to post as I always have. The purpose of this page has evolved from a plea to help ONE dog, RUBY (hence the name Rally for Ruby) to a page with the purpose of keeping Rubys supporters and friends updated on her life. Part of her life includes our family as a whole being involved in rescue. We have other foster dogs and as most rescue volunteers, we share posts to help out our fellow rescuers, particularly K9ResQ of AL, since this group is the one that saved Ruby. We like to help when we can and sometimes that is just to share posts for others. Recently, we have had an unexplained growth spurt if you will of new followers/likes to Rubys page. I dont know if this is coincidence or what, but I have also had more negative feedback about how I write the posts on OUR page. While we love making new friends, we are not about numbers. I understand that not everyone will find humor in reading Rubys posts because we are not all the same. What I dont understand is liking the page and then feeling the need to comment on it. Just unlike and move along, no hard feelings. Maybe people are liking the page because there is a misunderstanding of what the page is for. I hope that this will clear up any questions. I post about 99.9% of the posts on here. Once in a blue moon will the other admin post anything, so if this offends anyone, please dont let it reflect badly on anyone, but me, Gina, Rubys mom. The joy that it brings to know that one of Rubys posts has brightened someones day, means so much to me. The way that her true friends even use Ruby Speak when they comment is truly something special to us. As someone who has used humor as her #1 coping mechanism through a lot of challenging times in life, to hear that a post has helped someone else is an amazing feeling. As silly as it must sound to some others, to be criticized for it, feels equally bad. If its that big of an issue for people to read it, then it defeats the purpose. If you want to unfollow the page, just do it, no need to be critical. I supposed this will sound ugly or unkind to some, but that is not my intention. I just want people to understand how much I love Ruby and that her language is based on her personality and what I can only imagine she is thinking if she could talk. Yes, its exaggerated, but its all in fun...well, fun until negativity rears its ugly head. There is enough hurt, strife, sadness and conflict going on in our world and I would like to keep Rubys page free from it. Thanks, Gina
