Why do the miracles we ASK FOR surprise us when they happen? John - TopicsExpress

Why do the miracles we ASK FOR surprise us when they happen? John 6:16-22 (Voice) Later that evening the disciples walked down to the sea, boarded a boat, and set sail toward Capernaum. Twilight gave way to darkness. Jesus had not yet joined them. Suddenly, the waves rose and a fierce wind began to rock the boat. After rowing three or four miles through the stormy seas, they spotted Jesus approaching the boat walking mysteriously upon the deep waters that surrounded them. They panicked. Jesus (to the disciples): I am the One. Don’t be afraid. They welcomed Jesus aboard their small vessel; and when He stepped into the boat, the next thing they knew, they were ashore at their destination. The following day some people gathered on the other side of the sea and saw that only one boat had been there; they were perplexed. They remembered seeing the disciples getting into the boat without Jesus. ********************************************** Sometimes, I hit myself, smack dab in the forehead, like the V-8 commercial because I realize that I have just RECEIVED what I have been praying for (most times for a very long time) and I didnt even realize that I had my prayer answered!!! [insert V-8 slap] Sometimes, I am shocked when something SUPERNATURAL happens around me, leaving me to feel as if I have witnessed something that SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN expected! [V-8 slap] Sometimes, I wonder why God doesnt lay a BIG OLE V-8 SLAP right up front of my head after hearing me pray and then watching how I respond (or worse yet, not respond) to the answers He has provided. The men had followed God and watched as He provided for needs, corrected infirmities, righted wrongs, improved conditions out of love. Now, they see him walk towards them. Jesus, their friend says >>> DONT BE AFRAID. I need to LISTEN TO Him saying this NOW. I know I am on that boat. The water has been growing rocky around me. Sometimes, it seems to rock quite stormy around me. I am not sure how far away from shore I am rowed out. Death can take you far away from shore. It makes it hard to row back. It makes you feel like you are rowing in circles sometimes. I hear Jesus say >>> Dont be afraid. I know He is walking out to me. They welcomed Jesus aboard their small vessel; and when He stepped into the boat, the next thing they knew, they were ashore at their destination. And the next thing they knew.... I am praying for the next thing to grow stronger within me... I covet your prayers for help to get me there. I will not be surprised when I arrive. He is faithful to take me ashore to my destination. He is the only one who will take me there.
