Why do we celebrate OXI day? The entry of Greece into the WW2? It - TopicsExpress

Why do we celebrate OXI day? The entry of Greece into the WW2? It is not out of ego, not out of pride. We celebrate it, to honor the 100 generations of stubborn, hardheaded, compassionate, loving, romantic, artistic, scientific, quick to anger, quick to forgive, hospitable, theatric, dramatic, melodramatic, hard working, kings (even as slaves) philosophic, pensive, kind, joyous and miserable, ancestors who came before us from a tiny piece of sunkissed land at the center of rhe world. We celebrate, becauae we have always been David, and we have always slain Goliath. And we always will. Always. In 1940 tbey came at us with Tanks. In 2010 and to present, they come at us with Banks. They try in different ways to get us to submit. If it isnt through violence, they try to starve us. But as the generations previous to ours have said countless times, i have been poor and starving before.....and i have been rich. I know the beauty of both. The question is, Have you? When this latest attempnat conquering, not greece, but greeks, fails, we will have said OXI once again, and when everyone fades into history, the 100s of generations of heros before us, will make sure that we carry on. And on, and on! Its not Ego or pride. Its DNA. Its responsability engrained in our basic code that we pass on. Even to half greeks or quarter greeks or eighth greeks. Once you jave even a smidgen of that DNA that comes with 100 generations of ancestors, it is all encompassing and defines you and those who come after you! ZHTO!!
