Why do we love looking at photographs? A snapshot of our life seems more alive than the actual experience we remember of it. As we look at the picture, we focus on that moment, our eyes capturing every detail of that situation. Lost in that event of the past, we become aware of that slice of time. That one fleeting second, feels suddenly precious. Move your gaze slowly away from the photo, to look with that same look, at the now which is right in front of you. At the present which suddenly feels more valuable. The mundane becomes beautiful. You see the extra in the ordinary. The bright colors become brighter. The shadows, sharper. Every weave of light bounces lightly on your pupil. A pupil that now understands the lesson of the power of now.
