Why do you volunteer? This is why Dawn from Newport Pagnell does.... First of all we have a strong military background in our family, both my grandads fought in the Second World War, one of them also in the first. My dad joined the forces through national service but enjoyed it that much he signed up for another 12 years and had many storys to tell, he was very proud of his military background. Dad helped out with the Poppy Appeal for many years for the Northampton Branch of The Royal British Legion. Unfortunately when he was selling Poppys in the Grosvenor on 6th November 2010 he collapsed and died. This broke my heart as I was a daddys girl and Im so proud of him and all he done for the Legion. I started to help last year at the Newport Pagnell Branch delivering boxes to local shops and schools and standing up town for 2weeks collecting, I met some wonderful people last year and Im doing it all again this year, I have now been promoted to Poppy Appeal Deputy and Im very proud to hold that title....... I just hope I can give my all to the legion as my dad did. Thanks Dawn!
