Why does APS massacre have such a big emotional impact? Its - TopicsExpress

Why does APS massacre have such a big emotional impact? Its been more than a week and people still cry talking about APS massacre. For the first time, official days of mourning have been personal to the people. This incident caused a mental disturbance in every-one. Well naturally ask to ourselves, Why? Why this particular gets us. Is it about body count? If it were, we wouldve cried the same for people who died in Merriott blast in which the body count was a lot more. Is it about the fact that most those dead were children? If it were, well be crying the same way for hundreds of school girls who died in 2007-08 when girls schools were targeted so frequently that many fatal attacks werent even broken on media. My personal idea, and experience is that it is the ïmagination of the sight that gets us deeply. If the same number of kids died in a blast, the impact wont even be comparable to what it is now; we wouldnt have anything painful to imagine, a bang and its over. But here, we imagine people crying and shouting for mercy before they died, which makes a big deal of difference. Taliban made a smart move if its about inflicting pain on the people, which was a great triumph...but theyre now facing the consequences of this brutality which makes it an overall stupid act. - Muhammad Usama
