Why does that computer in front of you exist? Was it because some evil capitalist stole it from some Australian bushman to sell it to you? Um, no. Was it because lots of people just love you so much that they made you a computer? Um, no. It was because many thousands of people who dont know you or care about you were trying to enrich THEMSELVES. Each business that produces each component was created by people trying to make a profit for themselves, and every single person who contributed to the process--from the integrated circuit designers to the janitor at the sales office--did what they did so THEY would get paid, not so you would get anything. But in a system of voluntary trade, for THEM to get wealth, they had to create wealth that someone ELSE wanted to pay them for. And boy did it work! You and I now have technological miracles in front of us, as a testament to the POSITIVE power of human beings non-violently acting in their own SELF-interests. Had we waited for charity, or some centralized authoritarian plan, to accomplish such a feat, we would be waiting forever. Larken Rose
