Why dont I trust Apple? because, with one of the recent iTunes updates (last year or so), a whole bunch of podcasts that I had wanted to keep have just disappeared. I have them on an external backup, but every time I try to reimport them into iTunes, iTunes deletes them. Hmm, this is exactly why I do not use the iPhoto thing on my Mac. Any software that stores your metadata in a non-human readable database cannot be trusted (or checked for veracity). Moral of the story - do not let iTunes manages your podcasts, music or photos (thank God I keep my music in a non-apple managed directory set, I always was scared of ticking the let itunes manage your podcasts thing). Apple has lost my trust. Actually, Apply never really had my trust - when some says trust me, Ill just wave my hands behind the scenes, I usually dont unless I can verify the process. And it it is proprietary rather than open source, I will not trust it. As Ben Franklin once said, in a different context: (paraphrasing) those who sacrifice freedom for security deserve neither.
