Why dont we find sand as beautiful as grass? Of course, some do. - TopicsExpress

Why dont we find sand as beautiful as grass? Of course, some do. But for the most part we are attracted to fields more than dunes. I think thats because we are instinctively connected to the struggle of life. Im saying that there is some instinctual understanding and appreciation we have for living things. We dont need to be a biologist; we dont need to understand the miracle of photosynthesis and the impeccable balance between water and the nitrogen cycle in order to appreciate a green field of grass. A child would prefer a forest over a desert without any knowledge of either. I think this instinctual appreciation for life is what gives us the addiction to power we have when we kill it. Burning ants with a magnifying glass, hunting, and even warmongers all have this facination with taking the life of something else to assert dominance. Does this mean that those who kill others are, in some inverted way, the greatest appreciators of living things?
