Why has the achievement gap always been used to compare low - TopicsExpress

Why has the achievement gap always been used to compare low socioeconomic schools with higher socioeconomic schools only to find out the obvious--that low socioeconomics play a HUGE role in academic failure? But there are exceptions. There are impoverished parents of academically successful children and they are heroes. We should examine the aspects of their behavior that make them so successful at being parents. It would not only give them the honor they deserve, but it might give us a map of the pathway to academic success for all children trapped in poverty and provide the real answer to overcome the achievement gap between rich and poor communities. washingtonpost/blogs/answer-sheet/wp/2013/05/09/poverty-and-student-achievement-are-we-comparing-the-wrong-groups/
