Why in the hell will I pray to a image of Pope John Paul - TopicsExpress

Why in the hell will I pray to a image of Pope John Paul II, Matthew 15:8, “This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.” Look at the photo to the right of Pope John Paul II, and notice the tiny Jesus (you might need a magnifying glass). All I ever hear from the Catholic Church is how great the Pope is, the “holy father.” The Bible clearly warns us in Matthew 23:9 to call no earthly man our spiritual “father.” Only God is to be reverenced. The Catholics not only call the Pope “father,” but literally idolize the man. The Pope is the vicar of Hell, not Heaven. The picture to the right speaks 1,000 words. The Catholic religion idolizes the Pope. Look how the Pope is shown as big and mighty; but Jesus is portrayed as weak and helpless in the hands of the Pope. “But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.” —Matthew 23:5-9 The Catholic Church with its gold-plated cups, marble floors, extravagant buildings, and billions of dollars certainly fits the description of the Scriptures we just read.
