Why is COMMIT different? Two weeks ago, a veteran service - TopicsExpress

Why is COMMIT different? Two weeks ago, a veteran service organization sent COMMIT the resumes of a couple coming out of the SOCOM community. We were asked to help find them a job in DC. COMMIT isnt a job placement organization. We are fundamentally changing the way veterans think about transition. We look at veterans as individuals. We focus on quality of touch, not quantity touched. So, what did we do when they called? Well, we are still working because this stuff doesnt happen over night but this is what weve done so far: Last week, both veterans were brought into our one-on-one transition program. We had a group chat as well as individual conversations with each of them. We learned that there were two IED injuries to one of them while both of them were deployed. Then, one of them lost a Dad 30 days before deployment and still reported for duty; all the while, suffering from previous feelings of insufficiency since a spouse had been injured twice in combat while deployed in a different location. This week, we dug deeper by using a tool that reminded both individuals who they are, particularly who they are out of uniform and under various types of stress. We broke through barriers and walls that have been built for years and masqueraded by a uniform and a Roger that, Sir. We are teaching them how to focus on their new unit, just the two of them. In this world where there are so many dollars thrown at the veteran service space, wouldnt it be nice if everyone who wants to help veterans would stop and focus, truly focus, on the individuals? Cant help but think wed be much further down the field in this game.
