Why is Facebook called a social media? What is social about talking to someone with a computer? Being social is sitting down with someone, or at least hearing their voice or seeing them on something like Skype. The reason there is so much bullying going on with Facebook is because people dont experience any immediate impact from their words. If you are sitting beside someone, and you tell them they are fat or stupid, you are going to see their anger, or their pain. You are going to see the tears fall from their eyes, and if you have any humanity at all, you will feel ashamed for causing that. But you dont experience that when you simply type nasty words on a screen.
