Why is Good Friday good? Heres why: Without dark, there would be no reason to celebrate light. Without pain, there would be no reason to celebrate feeling well. Without despair, there would be no reason to celebrate hope. Likewise, without Good Friday, there would be no reason to celebrate Easter. In the darkest hour of human history, there emerged over skull hill the tiniest beam of light. The curtain in the temple was torn, top to bottom. This was the hope the world needed. This was the Almighty Creator of the Universe, reaching out to His creation, the people He created. This was Jesus, shouting to all the Earth, that HE was the veil! He was torn, broken, and ripped apart so that we no longer have something separating us from a personal and loving God! This was the Lord grieving for His Son that had been brutally slaughtered, a spotless, perfect, Sacrificial Lamb gone willing to the cross so that in this dark and desolate world, we may have the hope that comes with the first burst of sunlight at dawn. That, my friends, is why Good Friday is good!
