Why is biting your nails normal but annoying while flapping your hands is so weird as to be mildly frightening and extremely off-putting? Im actually asking this question seriously, as its a very strange cultural phenomenon and hard to grasp, yet its very real -- I actually feel it myself. When I see someone toe tapping, nail biting or hair twirling I barely notice it; when I see someone rocking, pacing, or flapping Im very aware and immediately think #autism!
