Why is it almost 2015 and so spinning reel companies still build the anti-reverse system into reels? I realize some reels do not have the switch on them in the higher end of the price spectrum, and that there are some people in this world of fishing that might be using them in order to reel backwards in freshwater lake trolling up north. But for the most part they are simply one more thing designed into the reel that has a high rate of breakage. (This is just a little question to get people discussing the issues of the gear we use and how most of it is now designed more to fail, than to deliver a long lasting, durable product. And it always baffled me as to why reels still have this feature...especially if they are marketed to the saltwater angler.)
