Why is it sometimes easier to get [some] Christians to a conference to "be blessed" that it is to get them to a gathering where they can "be a blessing" for the poorest of poor? For the early Christians, "the poor you will always have with you" meant, "as my people you will always be amongst the poor, so freely open your hand to your sister and brother." So are the poor with us? Is that because we have forgotten we are called to be with them? How to do hear this passage quoted?
