Why is it that our communities wait until tragedy strikes to stand - TopicsExpress

Why is it that our communities wait until tragedy strikes to stand up for our young black males. The truth is, we are watching them die slowly everyday. Where are the picket signs and protesters when they are living and fighting everyday in the streets with no fathers in their homes and no guidance. Police brutality may very well be a finger to point but there are three fingers pointing back at us. Its time we start caring, protesting and lining the streets for our young black and Latino males BEFORE they are a chalk outline. This photo is from an initiative called the Champion Academy. Every single one of these young men are at risk of becoming a grave statistic. Myself along with 34 other volunteers and mentors, were led by Super Bowl champion Roland Williams in efforts to positively impact 500 young lives in Rochester New York. We are fighting for their SUCCESS and their SURVIVAL. We are not afraid to ENGAGE them with LOVE and ENRICHMENT. For the last two weeks, Ive been asking everyone to share a tweet or make a donation of $10 to helprochesterboys.org or gofundme/helprochesterboys and I have seen very little participation. So Im asking again, lets not wait for tragedy. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Rochester may not be your city but no matter what, these are OUR boys; a fact that is made very clear if you simply turn on the news. Please everyone, visit the website helprochesterboys.org and learn how you can become part of the SOLUTION. Rochester is just the first stop on this journey to help our young minority males, and with your support we can insure that it will not be our last. Watch the video, you will see that we are making a difference. #WeBelieve https://youtube/watch?v=ulPkDdRdJd0&feature=youtube_gdata_player
