Why is it that the International Community is so focused on Sri - TopicsExpress

Why is it that the International Community is so focused on Sri Lanka with accusations of war crimes when elsewhere in the world, there are worse crimes being committed everyday and yet the international community seems to be ignorant of them? It appears that the sun is shining only on Sri Lanka and thus only Sri Lanka is visible to the International Community. Were there any war crimes in Sri Lanka to begin with? If so, what term should we use to describe the horrific crimes that are happening elsewhere in the world. It is felt that a regime change is required due to certain requirements of the people have not been delivered. In the event the current President is defeated by the other candidate, is it the will of the people to send him to the Hague to face a trial on war crimes, a term used to describe the ending of the war and the peace everyone is enjoying today? Perhaps it is time Sri Lankans learn to unite and work together for the betterment of the nation. The course of action the new leaders will take post election to protect the rights of all Sri Lankans will define who we really are. We must remember that the current leaders in the event they get voted out are all Sri Lankans and they have rights just like everyone else though they may have done wrong. The international community should not have jurisdiction on how matters are conducted in a sovereign nation. Sri Lanka is at a crucial juncture in its existence and the only way forward is for everyone to unite and work towards a common agenda. United, Sri Lanka will stand. Divided, Sri Lanka will fall :)
