Why is it that we often prefer old fables and smooth messages over - TopicsExpress

Why is it that we often prefer old fables and smooth messages over the new sound doctrine freshly pressed from the vine of truth? (2 Timothy 4:2-3) If honest it is because intoxication temporarily covers the inward pain, power void, and the conviction that weighs so heavy on our souls. (Psalm 51:5) We all like the idea of change but to change requires death and it is death that we all fear. (Galatians 5:19-24, Hebrews 2:15) So the unfaithful whore offers the old wine which is Barabbas instead of the new wine which is Christ! (Revelation 17:6, Matthew 27:20-22) One must die after all so why me? It is because I cannot be fixed for I am old and I need to be made altogether new. (Romans 6:2-6; 8:7) The new is better but only to those who are sober. (Luke 5:36-39, 1 Peter 5:8) Today I will sober up by you grace, I will face my pain, communicate my feelings, and accept your instructions even when I disagree. For I have seen your cross and the world has lost its grip on me. (Revelation 22:17, 21)
