Why is it that when I say Hi or Hello to people on instant message - TopicsExpress

Why is it that when I say Hi or Hello to people on instant message that shows they are online, even after refreshing before I send, they suddenly go offline when I send them a message? Getting a complex here folks, LOL. I guess it is a good thing I dont go to their house and knock on their door, it may send them into a panic attack. Ya know, that whole not knowing how to avoid an unwanted guest thing. Maybe I should try that, only if gas wasnt so expensive. ;) LOL
