Why is the NHTSA requiring rearview cameras in all new vehicles starting in May 2018? Because it will save between 13 to 15 lives and prevent as many as 1,125 injuries annually. Well, who could oppose that? Me. How many people will be injured or die because they have to offset the cost of the camera system by buying lighter vehicles with fewer traditional, and more effective, safety features? I can guess.
