Why is the month of Ramadan special to you? Ramadan for me - TopicsExpress

Why is the month of Ramadan special to you? Ramadan for me personally was my “fresh new start” to life as a Muslim. I’d always been a cultural Muslim type of person. I knew a lot about Islam, was brought up in a Muslim family but I hardly practiced anything. Being a teenager; friends, guy friends, music and movies was what defined me, till about 3 years ago when I found real love; the love of Allah. Back then, I was going through a very rough time in my life, everything seemed to be falling apart. I was lost, confused and in desperate need of help. It was the last ten nights of Ramadan that came to my rescue. I remember opening the Quran one evening and as I was reading and pondering over the meaning of Allah’s words, my eyes began to swell with tears, shivers went down my spine and my heart trembled at the sheer power of what I was feeling. Hours passed by but I kept reading, contemplating and crying till I fell asleep. When I woke up a few hours later for suhoor, I realized that I had experienced the most beautiful feeling I’ve ever felt in my entire life; Sakeenah (tranquility). Tears of happiness rolled down my cheeks because I had actually lived the verse; “Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest’. And you know the best part? My life has never been void of this feeling ever since. Walhamdulilah. -Hafsa Chinoy, 22, youth activist and teacher, Riyadh, KSA. #RamadanProject - Revive. Reflect. Rejoice.
