Why is there not more uproar about the expansion of domain name extensions? ICANN (internet corporation for assigned names and numbers) claims it will provide more clarity, quality, and security to the net and they are in demand. When, in fact, it will do quite the opposite. It will also cost smaller businesses who cant afford to buy more domains, which could cause them to go out of business. Most domains seem to be owned by a broker anyway, so how can he say theres a demand? I wont even go into the problems older, non tech people will run into when they go to a site (for example) that instead of using , its .bank and that bank happens to be a small local bank which didnt buy the .bank extension and you type in your username and password and then poof, the fraudulent website has your info. Is it just me or should this be more of a concern for us??
