Why it is that there are people, some well-known to me and others new, who insist on speaking kindly to me, who make overtures for friendship, who continue on in my circle or at my very side? Why it is that these stubborn and masochistic personages desire to have any contact or relation to a man as bitter, depressed, offensive, and joy-less as I am is an unsolvable puzzle. I have nothing positive, nothing happy or of any real value to offer anyone. Whether you read my words or hear them, you will come away a lessor person for it. What the hell is wrong with you people?
