Why kids quit after their 1st lesson, before becoming intermediate players, or after playing their 1st tournament...quitting after 1st lesson-as professionals we are not geared to immediately asses or understand the learning process of the child therefore we dont provide knowledge or information the way they get it so its boring to them...quitting before becoming intermediate-its not an immediately rewarding sport but one that requires a high degree of skill development if the professional is not able to create a connection with the student the learning process is not enjoyable from the task performing and from the emotional so why keep doing it....after 1st tournament-overall as an industry we do a poor job preparing the student and the parent emotionally for whats coming as a result they create their own set of goals and objectives for the most part focused around the common trend to socially measure success WINNING, and really who wins their 1st tournament so therefore conclusion Im not talented or gifted for tennis so why keep doing it.
