Why not just raise it to $15, or $20, or $100 per hour? What makes you think that the difference in what you raise it to will bring about different effects? If wealth is created by just giving people money, than just give people money. Seems legit right? It definitely wont devalue the dollar, raise the cost of living, create unemployment, create more income inequality, disenfranchise blacks more so than they already are, hurt immigrants more so than they already are, create more people in need for public assistance; no it wouldnt do that, there isnt any indication whatsoever that raising the minimum wage would do that, right? Oh wait, yes; yes there is. Instead of worrying about shares of the pie, we should stop and think about what we can do to make the pie bigger.
