Why should we care about how painful an execution is?? Based on a statistical analysis of U.S. capital cases, the National Academy of Sciences concluded that at least 4.1 percent of the prisoners sentenced to death in the United States were innocent of capital crimes. So at the very least the wrongly executed dont deserve to die in pain. Since we dont know who the wrongly executed will be, it has to be done pain-free systematically.
