Why swamibapa is grearest sadhu in the world ?? Everyone Needs a Guru! Dont You? The great scholar, sage and devotee of God, Narada, was in search of peace. He came to Sanatkumar who said, Only he who submits himself to a God-communion Guru and serves him with firm faith and reverence can attain peace. Plagued by the duals of pleasure and unhappiness, praise and insult, love and hate, one can never attain everlasting peace. The chase after the pleasures of the world has becomes an endless race for man. He feels a sense of incompleteness in his life, that he is missing something. But man has no idea, no knowledge of what he is missing. To win the battle of soul over mind, a genuine Guru has to be sought. A Guru is invaluable for our existence on earth. It is the Guru who lights the path of a stranger lost in the darkness of the unknown. He lifts humanity wallowing in the darkness of ignorance. He is the perfect spiritual master who liberates one from bondage born of mundane pleasures. He is needed everywhere by everyone. To seek communion with such a saint is the means to attain salvation. Gunatitanand Swami has said in his talks: Scriptures, mandir, murti cannot do what a Guru does. Therefore, in order to reach the sublime heights of spirituality and thus attain liberation, a Guru is necessary. Firstly, the Guru must be pragat - manifest. A lamp will not light by simply filling it with oilseeds, but will only do so by actively lighting it, in the same way, liberation cannot be attained through an unmanifest guru. Liberation can only be attained through a Pragat guru, therefore the guru must be Pragat. Jagubhai Patel of Sampura was a staunch devotee of Ambaji Mata. Pleased with his devotion, she appeared and gave him darshan on 1975. She told him: Go to Pramukh Swami Maharaj, He will liberate and grant you salvation. Mataj introduced a Pragat guru to him and clarified that even as an unmanifest God, she would not be able to grant him salvation. In Vach. Vad. 10, Shriji Maharaj says: If God does not manifest on earth, he should contact His Brahmanised(Ekantik) Saint and dedicates himself at his lotus feet… which will bring ultimate salvation. But how must the Ekantik Guru be? Hospitals are full of Doctors but there are only a few surgeons. Similarly, there are millions of sadhus in this world, but not all are great. Pearls are rare, and amongst the glittering pearls there lies a priceless pearl. To meet such an Ekantik Guru is rare. A true Ekantik Guru can give us the immortalising knowledge (moksha), through which we can achieve Ekantik Dharma. Lord Swaminarayan has described the qualities of a God-realised saint in Vach. Gadh. Sect. 1-54: ‘The Saint who..possesses the attributes of Swadharma, Jnan, Vairagya, and Bhakti is the upholder of Bhagwat Dharma… Where do we find a saint of this eminence other than Pramukh Swami Maharaj. Those qualities of an ideal saint as described by Lord Swaminarayan can be seen in Pramukh Swami Maharaj. He has displayed these qualities throughout his life time. Pramukh Swami Maharaj ardently supports the moral and ethical way of life - DHARMA. *Once in Delhi, Swamishri arrived at the house of Lieutenant Governor Shri Kapoor for padharami. Shri Kapoor expressed his and his wifes wish to perform pujan of Swamishri. Immediately, Swamishri explained the niyams of a saint to Shri Kapoor who cooperatively performed pujan of Swamishri himself. Thus, Swamishri does not relax even in the slightest in his detachment to women and wealth. Just like he is steadfast in Dharma, he is deep in Knowledge. John Ruskin once said: I believe that the first test of a truly great man is his humility. Swamishris life bears witness to this remark. He is full of wisdom - GNAN and equipoised in honour or insult. Both mean nothing to him. *In 1982 in Ahmedabad, Swamishri honoured a Hindu spiritual leader by stepping down to wash his feet with water. The leader remained upright throughout the ceremony without a response, not even a slight nod in acknowledgment. When a saint later asked, Why do we bother calling people who dont even have the courtesy to give any response or bow to you? Swamishri replied, We should fulfil our duty and forever remain as a sevak, servant. Just as a lion will never eat grass, Swamishri feels no need for praise or applause. This prasang speaks volumes of Swamishris spiritual wisdom. Just as wisdom is one facet of his countless attributes, similarly is his detachment from materialism - VAIRAGYA. Sadguru Brahmanand Swami has sung: Such a Saint stays and moves in society, but he is not attached to anything nor does he entertain such thoughts…. Pramukh Swami Maharaj is detached from materialism - VAIRAGYA. *In 1977, in Nairobi, the saints returned from their trip to Mt. Kilimanjaro. The saints began to praise the beauty of the mountain, to which Swamishri replied, If the mountain is this beautiful, then how beautiful must its maker God be? Hence, he is only attached to God. And that is why he is unique in his Bhakti. The Narad Bhakti Sutras describe bhakti as the highest form of selfless love. Pramukh Swami Maharaj is full of devotion - BHAKTI. For him, it is purely a matter of ‘Me and My Lord. Swamishri has extreme love for Harikrishna Maharaj, whom He keeps with Him wherever He goes.*At a small village of Kunpad, the devotees had planned a group photograph with Swamishri. As they all arranged themselves, they accidentally covered up Thakorji. Swamishri promptly spotted this and said: Take the photo in such a way that Thakorji comes in the picture... No matter how grim the situation, it is apparent that Pramukh Swami Maharaj is constantly focused on God. For Pramukh Swami Maharaj, God is everything, He lives for God. And that is why in the GuruGeeta, it states: the root of salvation is by the grace of Guru. Thus, on the basis of the scriptures, one cannot attain peace or salvation without submitting himself to a God-communion guru and serving him with reverence. A guru is invaluable for our existence on earth. He takes in poison in the form of our troubles and gives us nectar in the form of character and morality. He is needed everywhere by everyone. Pramukh Swami Maharaj is such a Sadhu. He is a true Ekantik Guru as described in the scriptures. He is a living embodiment of spirituality. Pramukh Swami Maharaj is a living force which stirs the good in men and activates their goodness into moulding a better community of good living people. In his presence, many attain the stability which they seek, they attain wisdom, their ignorance is destroyed and they are redeemed of salvation. We are indeed blessed to have attained such a guru as Pramukh Swami Maharaj. His Himalayan wisdom, his Oceanic grace, his limitless compassion for man, his deep concern for the least of beings is the patrimony he has given to all humanity. If we surrender to him and serve him with firm faith, then through his divine grace, the doors of redemption will be thrown fully open before us. Because Swamishri to me youre mine, my Supreme Guru! And that is why I would like to end by saying: Ho! Swami guruhari chho tame, maara praan na aadhar Vhala Pramukh Swami chho tame; Kariye vandan varamvar….
